Minneapolis makes up one half of what is called the Twin Cities with a population of approximately 350,000. The population is 91 percent Caucasian, 4 percent Black, and 1 percent Native American. Minneapolis is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world as it has a modern feel and numerous skyscrapers, both old and new. Minneapolis is home to great culture as well as great music. Musical celebrities such as Prince and The Replacements both hail from Minneapolis.

The winters in Minneapolis can be severe, but this city’s climate is otherwise considered to be completely enjoyable. The average temperature for the months of December, January, and February never reaches above freezing and January is the city’s coldest month with an average high of 21 degrees and an average low of 3 degrees. The hottest month in Minneapolis is July with an average high of 84 degrees and an average low of a mild 63 degrees.
Water
Those travelers looking for water in their adventures will find Minneapolis to be the perfect destination. Within the city, itself, visitors will find no less than 22 lakes, owing to the city’s nickname “City of Lakes.” The larger, more populated lakes include Lake Calhoun, Lake Harriet, and the Lake of Isles. The actual name “Minneapolis” comes from words found in the Greek and Sioux languages that come together to mean “city of waters.”

For those looking to do some shopping in Minneapolis, the Mall of America is the place to go. The Mall of America is home to 520 stores, 25 restaurants, 27 fast food restaurants, 9 nightclubs, and 14 movie theatres and even has a fix for those looking for a thrill with its characteristic indoor theme park. The Mall of America is convenient for those just flying in to Minneapolis as it is located just three miles south of Minneapolis’s airport. The mall also has a miniature golf course and adds an educational aspect as families can take a look at the animals in the mall’s 1.2 million gallon aquarium.
The Old City Hall and Courthouse make an excellent tourist attraction for those looking to get a taste of the historical side of Minneapolis. Old City Hall and the Courthouse took approximately 16 years to complete, while the clock tower amazes tourists with its shear size as it stands a towering 340 feet in the air.
