Columbus

Columbus, Ohio has a population of approximately 198,300 and is the home of the Buckeyes, the school symbol synonymous with Ohio State University located in Columbus. Columbus is the 15th largest city in the United States, the largest city in Ohio, and has an economy that is currently driven by high-tech industries.

Culture

The arts scene in Columbus is a lively one with the Ohio State Fair, Picnic with the Pops, and the Arts Festival, all held in downtown Columbus. All of these events are consistently popular tourist attractions for the arts and music lover. The Columbus Zoo, Franklin Park Conservatory, Ohio State University, and Columbus College of Art and Design all serve as educational locations for travelers to visit while in Columbus. There is even art in the form of topiary sculptures that measure up to heights of 12 feet tall that can be found in the downtown Columbus area.

For the shopper in the crowd, Columbus is heaven as the city serves as headquarters to Leslie Wexner-owned stores which include the Limited, Express, Bath & Body Works, Victoria’s Secret and Abercrombie & Fitch. The Columbus Town and Country Shopping Center is also a great place for those in the area to satisfy their hunger for shopping.

Events

The Rose Festival is a popular event for those that happen to be in the area during mid-June as the festival takes place at the Park of Roses. Gallery Hop is a monthly event that takes on the first Saturday of every month along High Street. Rhythm on the River is an event that is held at the Riverfront Amphitheatre and features wonderful shows in the areas of dance and music.

Bob’s Bar is a popular attraction for those who want to watch Ohio State University sports on television and socialize over drinks in downtown Columbus. Buffalo Wild Wings is also located in the downtown area and is famous for serving up great cheap chicken wings and cold beers in a family-friendly sports bar atmosphere.
