Cleveland

Cleveland is a Midwestern city that has seen hard times, but is coming into its prime since the Cuyahoga River has been cleaned of its pollution. This has allowed many business and industries to thrive. The city rallies together around its sports teams such as the Browns, Cavaliers, and Indians to create a strong sense of community and also provides tourists with great sports action.

Cleveland is responsible for the invention of some of the common items that people use everyday such as chewing gum, automatic windshield wipers, modern golf balls, and rolled oats. Cleveland has a population of approximately 495,800 comprised of many different ethnic groups. To satisfy these different tastes, the area is home to many different types of restaurants that specialize in anything from Eastern Asian and Mediterranean food to Continental and Latin American cuisines.

Culture

A wealth of museums can be found within the 488-acre University Circle, which plays host to many cultural, religious, and educational organizations and is the home to the notable Cleveland Museum of Art. For outdoor activities, such as fishing, hiking, biking, boating, or picnics, take a ride over to the 19,000 acre Park District or go for a sled ride at Cleveland Metro Park which has refrigerated toboggan slopes that offer fun for the whole family.

Music

It has been said that Cleveland rocks and that is ultimately correct as Cleveland is home to the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame. Costing an estimated $92 million to construct, this famous museum is the final resting place for many great items from rock’s history, such as jumpsuits worn by Elvis and famous guitars played by notable rock n’ roll legends. Cleveland is also home to the Cleveland Orchestra which plays to audiences in Severance Hall and around the country. The Cleveland Orchestra has been considered one of the best music performing groups since its formation in 1918. For those looking to take in a live show, the Flats is the place to visit as there are many restaurants and bars in the area that serve excellent dinners and provide great entertainment. The Flats is also a hopping spot for nightlife such as dance clubs and the action takes place right beside the Cuyahoga River.
